Basically British Tea Room Policy for Groups

Room size and menu:

We welcome group reservations for the tearoom and we are always pleased when Basically British is considered to be a desirable location for a special occasion.

We can normally accommodate 22 people seated in the tearoom at tables of up to four or five per table. We will serve the tearoom menu to each person—with each receiving a pot of tea of their choice—at the standard rate per person. Anything additional that the group wants to bring, such as a cake, gifts, etc., is fine, provided we are informed ahead of time of the general nature of the additional items.

Groups of eight or more:

• We require a nonrefundable deposit of 50% of the total cost for the requested number of participants at least seven days before the reserved date; otherwise we reserve the right to cancel the reservation.

• The reservation may be cancelled or a change in date or number of attendees may be made up to seven days before the reserved date without any charge being incurred. Changes in number may be made within seven days of the reserved date, up to and including the day before, but in this case the deposit will not be refunded.

• On the day of the event, we will charge the total amount for the agreed final number, even if the actual number of attendees turns out to be lower than expected.

• We do not add a service charge for groups—we believe any gratuity should be an individual choice.

Exclusive use of tea room:

• For groups of 16 or more, the tearoom will be available exclusively for the group, unless we have reservations previously made by others for the requested date.

• For groups of 8 to 15, a room rental charge of $75 will be added if the group requires the room exclusively and no other reservations have been made. The room charge will be added to the deposit amount at the time the deposit is due. If the final number of guests is 16 or higher, the deposit will be deducted from the final total.

• For groups less than 8, we may choose to seat additional guests.
